WHAT IS MEDICINAL CANNABIS?

Medicinal cannabis products are legal, high-quality medicines that can be prescribed for people in Australia by a doctor.

Medicinal cannabis is derived from cannabis plants and can be used to treat the symptoms of certain medical conditions and the side effects of some treatments.

The active ingredients in medicinal cannabis are called cannabinoids. Most medicinal cannabis products contain either or both cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Different medicinal cannabis products are available to treat different conditions.

IS MEDICINAL CANNABIS LEGAL?

The Australian Federal Government legalised access to medicinal cannabis in 2016. More than 100 different cannabis products are now available to prescribe. Cannabis which has not been prescribed by your doctor is an illegal drug.

CAN I DRIVE IF I TAKE MEDICINAL CANNABIS?

CBD oil is perfectly safe to drive with in your system. THC products are different and may cause impairment. The Doctor will go through this in detail with you at the time of your consultation.

WORKERS COMPENSATION AND MEDICINAL CANNABIS?

Everyone’s circumstances are different. We have a team that work with patients to navigate the workers compensation process.

This is a specialised area and one we are very good at. Be assured if you are applicable for consultations, medications and support through workers comp. we will work with you to achieve this.

IS MEDICINAL CANNABIS COVERED BY PBS OR HEALTH FUND?

The PBS does not cover the cost of the medication. The Doctors consultations attract a Medicare rebate. Check with your private Health Funds, some of the providers do cover the cost of the medication. 

I AM ALREADY USING CANNABIS, WHY SHOULD I USE PRESCRIBED MEDICINAL CANNABIS?

Quality, consistency of product, and safety are the main reasons you should switch to a legal course of medicinal cannabis if you are a current user.

Black market or illicit cannabis can contain contaminants like pesticides, heavy metals and mould that are not safe to consume, the effects of which can take time to develop.
